Colin has been on retreats in silence and solitude for longer than some monks – and studied meditation for over 25 years. For as long as he can remember, he has been studying personal development.
Now a highly regarded meditation teacher, published author, and a pioneer in personal growth. Keeping it grounded in personal experience, he works with people from all walks of life.
He helps them overcome such issues as:

- “I’m too stressed”, or anxious; or other mental, emotional, and physical issues.
- “I’ve tried, but I could not gain the benefits of meditation.”
- “I don’t have enough time to meditate.”
- “I cannot calm my (ADHD) mind.”
Colin teaches practical methods that awaken his clients’ natural restorative abilities and ignite their innate happiness.
We know him as a:
- Mindfulness Teacher at the charity, Anxious Minds.
- Best Selling Author (pen-name: Q.C. Ellis) – see the REVIEWS for his paperback HERE.
- Founder of Meditation Teacher College, and the ground-breaking new framework called, “IntrAnaut™ Meditation“.
- Lead Trainer at IntrAnaut Academy — on the mobile app & retreats.
- Coach, mentor and facilitator.

Colin is a Transformation Coach. The name of his personal coaching service is “Beyond Willpower”. To grow beyond your limitations, you need to go beyond mindset and the use of willpower. He leads retreats to Transform Your Personal Evolution.
He would be the first to admit he made too many mistakes in his meditation practice to count. At least it means he can guide others to avoid them. He knows from experience why certain approaches are unhelpful (not just because he read it’s a bad idea).
Drawing from a profound understanding of the principles and mechanics of meditation, he offers clear and precise guidance.

Has Colin Only Ever Been a Meditation Teacher?
No. Colin is now in his 60s, and his career and interests have taken him on an interesting journey:
- At 16, he joined the Royal Marine Commandos. That was 1980.
- While in the Marines, Colin specialised in Arctic Warfare, nuclear protection, then as a graphic designer, and left in 1990.
- In the mid-nineties, after his Graphic Design business went bust, Colin trained as a College Lecturer and created Accredited courses on Personal Development.
- On 31st December 1999, Colin went on his first long Buddhist retreat (9 months) just 18 months after attending a meditation class.
- After his second long retreat (6 months) in 2001, Colin was employed at a charity when he had a panic attack, and he learned that ‘positive thinking’ is not a panacea, and a decade-long learning-curve with depression & anxiety ensued.
- Meanwhile, Colin explored various Complementary Therapies, becoming qualified in several, and had his details on the NHS register.
- Colin created and taught the popular, Meditation: Absolute Beginners Course (among others) in the 2010s. He also went back into long-retreat for 3-12 months at a time, in solitary and silence.
- In this decade Colin participated in, and assisted on, many Enlightenment Intensives. Later (2019-ish) he became qualified in Satori Enlightenment (and in 2025, Mind Shifting), therefore he can coach people toward authentic Personal Evolution.
- Early 2020s; Colin was asked by experienced meditators to teach them how to become confident, authentic, meditation teachers. Colin decided, he needed to provide clear, precise definitions and explanations of what meditation is, and how each part works.
- After his 1st cohort, he set-up the Meditation Teacher College.
- He also wrote several short eBooks on mindfulness and other topics (while working for the charity, Anxious Minds).
- Next, was his first paperback (that outlines his framework for amazing meditation) aimed at those who have tried meditation but not gained all the wonderful results. The first edition was published in 2022. His mobile app was launched at the same time.
Colin is now working on his second paperback – which outlines the underlying principles of IntrAnautTM Meditation*.
* Colin has the Trademark, IntrAnautTM because he recognises that; although the definitions for 'meditation' are fuzzy and there is often conflation with other things, he is not putting himself forward as a definitive authority. He only wants to add to the conversation - specifically for those who are stuck.
He has created a framework that provides clarity and precision (outside Buddhism and Yoga traditions) for those who may need it. Therefore, he is only speaking about his particular brand - IntrAnautTM meditation. This is NOT 'Meditation 2.0', or a new way to meditate. Colin believes it encompasses all styles of meditation (especially when you add his explanation of Informal Practice).
